Skin Is In - My Time at Rejuvenation Skin Lab

A short time ago, I decided I wanted to take the next step in skincare and visit a professional. I devoted a lot of time researching estheticians within the area. I was looking for not just someone experienced within the industry but someone I could feel comfortable embarking on this journey with. For me, I wanted to find my “esti besti” as they call it. Luckily, that’s exactly who I found at Rejuvenation Skin Lab.

I met with Nicole a few months ago to see her space, meet her and get a feel for her as an esthetician and what she would recommend for my skin. Her tailored approach to her clients is what drew me in. At Rejuvenation Skin Lab I’m not just a number or an appointment on her calendar. I am Sarah with dry & dull skin; who is looking to target fine lines, increase hydration and achieve the ultimate glow.

At my first meeting with Nicole we discussed my initial desires and then determined a good place to start for my skin. For me, that was a dermaplaning session with a Casmara mask. Although I have a passion for skincare and can recommend some awesome products & tips that work for me, Nicole is the expert and everyone’s skin is different. It’s so important to consult an esthetician when it comes to your skin. I recommend sitting down with them and mapping out your own personal journey. When I left Nicole’s office that day, I knew the exact procedures I would be doing when I returned. I also knew of any items I needed to bring with me and the tips to utilize leading up to my appointment to ensure the best results.

Fast forward to my first official appointment two weeks ago. I was SO excited to finally devote the much needed attention and care that my skin deserves. We can all sit at home and slather on expensive products but if we aren’t consulting an esthetician and doing certain procedures on a regular basis, what are those products really worth? I was greeted warmly by Nicole as I sat down to fill out some initial paperwork. The space at Rejuvenation Skin Lab is so serene and it’s truly quality “me time” for any woman needing that (and that would be all of us). Nicole will go over any of the products you’re currently using -- you can bring these products in with you if you like. It’s very helpful to hear the feedback on your routine or find out if you’re using something that has harmful ingredients in it!

It was finally time to begin and she prepped my skin for dermaplaning. It’s very important to arrive at your appointment with freshly cleansed skin. Please scroll down to the end for a description of the procedure itself. I’m going to let the professional (Nicole) explain the whole process and everything she applied. What I can tell you is how amazing and smooth my skin feels after dermaplaning. As a result of the Casmara mask, my skin saw an immediate increase in hydration and radiated with an instant glow! The Casmara mask she chose for me was focused towards securing more hydration in the skin. It’s feels like a cool glaze when it is applied to your skin and it feels so amazing! It covers your entire face – including your eyes & mouth! I was completely comfortable and relaxed the entire time. At the end of your 20 minutes it has solidified and comes off in one piece.

What I noticed the most with my skin is how fresh and soft it instantly felt. When I went to apply my serums and makeup for the first time, I was blown away with what a difference dermaplaning has on your skin. It’s recommended to do this every 4-6 weeks, and this is a procedure I will certainly be continuing with.

Below Nicole has described the process of dermaplaning with a mask addition and included all of her tips and tricks for both before & after dermaplaning. Contact Rejuvenation Skin Lab today and begin your skin journey with Nicole -- your skin will thank you so much!

Dermaplaning at Rejuvenation Skin Lab

A form of physical exfoliation using a sterile blade to lift off dead skin cells, revealing a brighter, smoother, more even complexion. This form of skin rejuvenation has been around for decades in plastic surgeon’s offices and is very safe and comfortable.

Benefits Include:

-Smoother, more evenly toned skin

-Brighter complexion

-Enhances product penetration and absorption for better efficacy

-Removes soft facial hair that traps dirt, oils, and makeup and can cut down on breakouts from these things

-Diminishes fine lines

-Reduces the appearance of acne scars

-Improves the appearance of discoloration

-Instant results with no downtime

-Can be used prior to chemical peels. Laser treatments, and other procedures to maximize results

-More flawless makeup application

-Improves the appearance of large pores

Skin is thoroughly cleansed and toned. Then typically alcohol or medical grade acetone is applied to the skin to dehydrate the top layer of stratum corneum where dead skin cells reside. This dissolves all microscopic surface oils and allows for a deeper exfoliation because these cells are no longer “stuck together” and they lift off more readily. Next, a sterile steel surgical blade glides over the skin in a sweeping motion removing dead, impacted skin cells, and vellus hair where makeup, dirt, and pollution can live. After, targeted serums are applied that contain antioxidants and hydrating ingredients to deliver these nutrients deeper into the skin. I like products like Vital Cell’s 3x Antioxidant Creme, and the HA Hydrating Serum to soothe, brighten, and plump skin. Masks can also be applied to focus on more thorough correction and general luminosity and radiance. Some of my favorite masks to pair with Dermaplaning are the Casmara High Performance Masks like the Hydrating Nova New, Oxygenating and Firming Green, and Antioxidant Powerhouse Gogi Berry. After masking, a light moisturizer and SPF are applied.
